donning the cycling cap on a rainy day.

after sleeping for almost thirteen hours to recover from my "epicy" weekend of rain and not much else, i realised i reeeeallly wanneda read bikesnob. which meant i had to perform a few rituals in order to change from my "winter persona" to my "summer persona". first, i took a shower. (d'uh.) then i cleaned the toilet, swept the floor and did the dishes. somewhere in there i listened to the "hit country" option on the downstairs roommate's satellite tv radio and read the daily show's "america". properly readjusted out of the "ski every moment" alignment i spend seven months in, i donned my "dirty cycling cap" and headed to the only coffee shop in greenwater. along the way, i realised today is the fortuitous alignment of TWO anniversaries: the eleven month anniversary of me and the woman next to me, and the four year anniversary of me owning the subie. snocka.
in being out of the loop so far this winter, i realised a couple weeks ago that i missed the seattle seachickens' "rebirth" into a "competitive" football team. apparently "competitve" this year means going 7-9 and still somehow making the playoffs. granted, this is the college bowl m.o., with 7-5 boston college somehow landing a bowl with 12-1 nevada. or 6-6 uw landing a holiday bowl slot with 9-3 nebraska. (and then somehow winning the rematch with a team that previously beat them 709-2.) but still, i din't realise how far the standards of the "professional" football leagues had slipped. you'd think there'd be some provision reading "in the event the NFC Western Division is won by a team with a losing record, there will be Three (3) "wild card" slots rather than the traditional Two (2) "wild card" slots. the third will be filled by "always sunny's" charlie day in the character of charlie "wild card, bitchez!!!" kelly. thus avoiding all the speculations about the "worst playoff team ever" or the possibility of a "seismic" run by marshawn lynch." anyway.
in walking around last night, we confirmed that when it rains a lot, there's a lot of water tryna find the low ground. i also found out that rain is cool. and makes me sleep a lot. peace.
